December 3, 2018: Delhi seems to be in news for all the wrong reasons again. Recently, two bike-borne men shot at a stray dog while fleeing after allegedly robbing a man at gunpoint. The incident happened in the northeast Delhi region on Sunday.

What happened?

Ravi Kumar Rathode (the victim), was going back to his house from the Seelampur area on Sunday, when he heard two unidentified bike-borne men calling him from behind. When he turned to see who it was, they stopped and demanded to hand over the bag. When Rathore refused, they fired a shot in the air to scare him and pointed the gun at him saying that they will shoot him dead if he resists.

They took INR 15000 cash from the victim. While fleeing, a stray dog kept barking at them, they shot her in the leg and sped away.

Seelampur police was informed about shooting in the Gautam Puri region, followed by another call regarding robbery. As the police reached the spot, they found the dog lying in a pool of blood. The dog was immediately rushed to hospital, as informed by the police. According to the locals, the dog recently gave birth to 4 puppies and might have acted in order to protect them.

Case Registered

A case was registered under sections 392 (punishment for robbery), 397 (robbery, or dacoity, with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt), 429 (mischief by killing or maiming cattle animals), and 34 (common intention) of IPC sections of Arms Act and Cruelty to Animals Act.

Further investigation is underway. They are going through the CCTV footage from the nearby location to figure out what happened exactly and identify the men on bike whose faces were covered.
