A Mother-Daughter Duo Feeds 220 Stray Dogs In Mumbai

Danielle Singh (Stone) and her mother Jeniffer Stone, both the residents of Mumbai, have been feeding 220 stray dogs in their locality for a long time.

Danielle, who is an arthritis patient, daily cooks 30 kgs rice, a mix of 30 kgs of dal and chicken waste, to feed the stray dogs. She carries all the food vessels along with her mother in a trolley. The trolley donated by an anonymous donor helps the duo to ease the carriage of the vessels from one place to other.

Danielle Singh (Stone) and her mother both spend most of the night on the streets to feed the stray dogs.

Danielle said, “We feed 220 stray dogs now, all thanks to some unknown people, leaving many dogs every fortnight near my area. Out of the many left, 3 to 4 die on the highway under heavy vehicles as they run around with fright,”

The trolley came to them a few days ago, and since then, life is easy.

“Trolley has eased things a lot as I suffer from haemophilia because of which I have arthritis which makes it difficult to carry heavy vessels around. Hence, I have to serve one side and then sit for 20 minutes and do the same till the entire food is distributed. Mum gets very exhausted too. The trolley has made it one straight round for me,” she said.

Singh now has also opened an animal medical centre for slum dwellers who do not know where to take the animals during an emergency.
